Top Wedding Decor Trends for 2020

One of the first things people spot when they enter a wedding is the decor. The type of wedding decor you choose sets the aura, theme, and ambiance of your celebration. New trends keep changing every year, and some make their way to social media, generating plenty of buzz. While we saw a lot of fresh pastel colors and white flowers trending in 2019, we wonder what 2020 has in store! Here at DownTheAisle our goal is to bring our clients vision to life, but we also want to showcase our perspective and offer our most creative ideas. Nowadays, every function and minute is personalized, and the motto is to provide a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Below are some upcoming trends and themes to follow for your 2020 wedding, adding charm and elegance to the celebration, making it a surreal experience for you and your guests.

1. Sustainable/ Eco Friendly Decor

More than ever, with the ever-growing carbon footprint, millennial couples are making palpable efforts to lessen the impact that celebrations have on the environment. Couples making a conscious effort to be eco-friendly are opting for a completely sustainable wedding from the food to flowers. Gone are the days when dozens of crates were being shipped to another country, new kitchens being created just for a wedding, and ordering cases of plastic water bottles to keep every worker/guest hydrated. Floral designers are recycling and composting flowers wherever possible, replacing cut blooms with plants potted in pretty planters and eliminating flower foam use. Moreover, plants or saplings as thank you gifts, sourcing locally grown food, and e-invites are proving to be great hits among the guests.

2. Catchy Phrases For A Personalized Touch

Personalized phrases nowadays are all the rage. A fun way to spunk up your wedding is to add a playful and sassy phrase somewhere in the decor. Printing it onto cocktail napkins, adding it on the invitation, creating a geotag on Snapchat, customizing gift bags, or hung as a laser-cut sign on the wall, these make the wedding memorable. The trick to making the phrase catchy is to choose a song lyric, saying, or quote that holds personal meaning to you and your spouse.

3. Extravagant Ceilings

Every bride has the vision to have the perfect fairy tale wedding, and lately, many brides utopian visions translate into breathtaking decor with larger than life ceilings. Be it a spacious ballroom or an awe-inspiring open venue adding a grand chandelier or multiple mini chandeliers gives it a luxurious vibe. This trend can never go wrong because it makes a statement without being too tacky and gives it an ethereal vibe. You can mix this cloudy look with hints of green or flowers hanging from the top to make it seem like soft white clouds have engulfed the ceiling. I know every girl out there, including myself, love this magical, below are some pictures for inspiration!

4. Pop of Colour

White and green, blush pink or neutral colors are all in the past now. Expect the new year to bring in a bold and vibrant pop of colors, statement hues, and print mixing which catch the eyes. New-age brides have started incorporating their personal style in the wedding decorations. Gone are the days of subtle wedding decor, the new year will bring a wide range of shades and tones that have never been highlighted before. Pop your favorite color in unexpected places like- glassware, table napkins, or chairs.
